Chi & Michael - Aruba Wedding & Houston, Texas Reception

Chi contacted me about a year before their wedding. Also an event coordinator herself, she was familiar with the colors and had in mind the design she wanted. Chi and Michael had a destination wedding in the beautiful Aruba and then an at home reception the following week. For the Aruba wedding, they chose fun and beachy colors with turquoise and limes accented by honeydew pink. Going a little more formal for the reception, their theme was sapphire blue and crystals. It was fun coming up with their design and a pleasure working with them both.

Lan & Avinash - Houston, Texas Wedding

My sister, Lan, finally got married last June. Boy, was it a complete year of planning. I've never planned a wedding before and props go out to all the wedding planners out there! I got married in 2006 here in Houston, but I lived in Phoenix at the time and I flew here, spent 2 weeks and booked all my vendors. For me, it was that easy! Being the only sister of the bride, of course I went to the majority of the appointments, help in the decision making and keep her from getting stressed out. Lan and Avi had a dream of all dream weddings...from the surprise engagement (awesome job Avi!) to actually getting married on their 6th year anniversary of dating. And by being related to yours truly, they had the pick of picks when it came to their stationery. After a few trial combo of colors, Lan finally chose an assortment of graphite grays, silver, deep plums and fuchsia for her color palette accented by damask and crystals. This wedding was all about the details. Save the dates magnets, invitations suites, programs, place cards, table numbers, seating chart, floor plan, monogram and thank you cards completed their entire package.

To top this wedding off even more, The Knot Texas picked up this wedding to be featured in their Spring 2012 edition. Not only was I super excited for my sis and brother-in-law, I was excited to be mentioned in this amazing magazine!

Kathleen & Sherwin - Puerto Vallarta, Mexico Wedding

This is one of my favorite boarding pass designs. Kathleen and Sherwin got married this past weekend and Kathleen was very specific and detailed when it came to her wedding stationery. She knew exactly what she had in mind when describing to me by email all her thoughts and ideas from her boarding pass invite to her tote bags as well as wedding program scrolls. She thought of everything for her guests and even gave pashminas away as favors.

This was a design that was printed on tote bags for their wedding guests to carry around beach towels, personal items and souveniers.

Christian turns 3

My nephew Christian turned three last August and his mom wanted to do a race car theme. Not the Disney/Pixar's Car theme...just a generic car theme. Boy was it an awesome party. There was a refueling drink station with oil pans in case the sweet tea or lemonade dripped. A car door with the number three painted in the backyard. Cupcake toppers had personalized license plates. And then an awesome car birthday cake! Wow, what a lucky little dude! A pretty cute one at that. Here are the invites that went out to many guests in anticipation of this bomb.com (as his mom would say) party.

Shay & Samuel - Houston, Texas Wedding

When I met with Shay, she already knew her color scheme and wanted something that had that old vintage feeling. The original design was good, but she wanted something a little more grand. Love Travels...to the Wedding

Jeanne and Marvin started out with boarding passes as their save the dates. To complete their love travels theme, many other stationery pieces were created. Invitations included the reception, website, accommodation and registry information. Table numbers were created using locations around the world that Jeanne and Marvin had traveled. And luggage tag favors doubled as escort cards. To top it all off, thank you cards were sent out from their fairy tale trip to Disney. Congratulations to Tiffanie and Khuong! They were married yesterday and I loved doing their wedding stationery. Their theme consisted of chandeliers and lots of bling to complement Hotel ZaZa. I met Buddie a little over 2 years ago when I was visiting my awesome friend Angie at her school where she teaches. Buddie and Chase were planning their destination wedding in Cabo. Of course I was asked to make her wedding invites and other wedding stationery. Last summer when I was helping Angie decorate her classroom for the upcoming year, I had just found out that I was pregnant and was about 4 weeks along. Buddie and I were talking about how she too was trying to get pregnant. Lo and behold, 3 weeks later, she found out that she and Chase were also expecting! And now here we are with baby shower invites. Many couples that I meet with are planning their weddings and their big day with an "I do." Very little do I have the privilege of continuing their journey with these same couples into parenthood. So, to say the least, I feel very honored when asked to take the next step and design and create baby shower invitations. Congratulations to Buddie and Chase on this amazing adventure and I can't wait to meet little Cole come May.

Nicole and Brian had a magical destination wedding in Miami at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens this past January. Coming from the freezing cold in Massachusetts to beautiful Florida was a perfect getaway. When I met with Kirstin and David last year, they knew exactly what they wanted. Well, Kirstin knew exactly what she wanted...David agreed. :-) With purples and greens and a touch of raffia, a garden themed wedding was exactly what they wanted for a refreshing spring event. David and Kirstin also incorporated an engagement picture courtesy of my husband, Ben. Kirstin wanted to use green envelopes, but didn't want any ordinary label. This boarding pass had a fun and whimsical design incorporated with fuschia and orange. Christie and James originally went with a teal and sand palette, but then realized that these colors weren't as vibrant and eye catching as they wanted. Christie quickly emailed me back and decided bright and bold is the way to go with a destination wedding. Pre-addressed envelopes to coordinate with font and color were added to complete the look. This boarding pass was so much fun to design. Meyako called me one afternoon while waiting at the airport and surfing the internet for the perfect boarding pass. After she had emailed a few potential stationery designers, she was in a bind. A couple didn't answer her emails, a couple didn't return her phone calls and one that did return her phone call sounded frantic and couldn't find the time to give her the info she needed. Well, needless to say, Meyako did leave me a message and I returned her phone call and after a quick conversation (as she was about to board a plane), I went to work designing some unique. In her info email, she wrote wanted a little of purple, orange, yellow, green, and turquoise. Also, she wanted something not too beachy but just a hint. So I designed boarding pass with whimsical swirls and added a hibiscus flower for just the touch of beach. I emailed the design over and she couldn't wait to see the actual sample in the mail. We were a match made in heaven! Thank you to Meyako and De'Mon for choosing me to design your wedding invites. The pleasure was all mine!

Humor in Love

I loved designing this boarding pass. When I met with Sherry and Ron, I instantly fell in love with their humor. They wanted to put their personality into their boarding pass invitations and what better way to do that than putting a "ball and chain with game over" on the front. Winter Tulips

When Gigi and Jason met with me a few months ago, they knew for sure they wanted something with yellow and grays. This color combo is awesome! Gigi wasn't sure what theme she wanted to go with but after looking at a few samples, tulips was the winner. Instead of using the custom response card and response envelope, Gigi and Jason decided on saving with postage by using a response postcard. Also keeping in theme with the color scheme, we also used a dark gray envelope and enhanced with a wrapped address band for sophistication. I love it!

What a fantastic way to start the football season than by sending your guests' burnt orange invites with your engagement picture in the UT stadium. Kim and Marco got engaged a year ago at the Texas~Texas Tech game and they thought it would be a great walk down memory lane if they could get inside the stadium to take some pictures. Congratulations to my brother-in-law Fred and his new bride Regina who got married this past Saturday. It was an amazing and fun wedding. Congratulations to Jaclyn & Chad for winning the Wedding in a Week contest! We met this past Monday and came up with this design for their wedding programs. They are an awesome couple and the very little time I got to know them, they are so grateful for all the vendors help in making this wedding become an amazing adventure. 100 programs were designed, cut, and assembled in less than 48 hours. Thanks to my husband for the extra help! Each guests' chair will have a program greeting them as they are seated and witness a weeks worth of awesome craziness all put together for the big event. Jaclyn will be here first thing in the morning to pick them up and then on to Hotel Sorella for Friday's big event. Their wedding will be aired Monday morning on Channel 55 between 6-10am. The newlyweds will also be at the Houston Wedding Showcase this Saturday at the George R. Brown Convention Center showcasing their big day.

Last August at the Houston Wedding Showcase, I met Magen Johnson with Hand in Hand Weddings & Event. Since then, she has brought many couples my way. Katie and David and I rummaged through my samples and what Katie wanted to do was make a statement with a large invite. She fell in love with the 7x7 pocketfold invite as soon as she saw it and knew it was "the one." We quickly came up a combo of royal blue, black and silver. Katie absolutely knew she had to have the wedding program fan with a touch of paisley for her April wedding. Not only will it keep her guests cool, but it will also double as a wedding favor.

Khoa and Jasmine are good friends of my cousin Sylvia and her husband Phong. We met a couple of months ago and they knew they wanted to have a black and white wedding. They wanted a modern and classy wedding. An accent color was a must but couldn't be decided upon. I showed them some weddings with the popular apple green color and immediately they loved it! With a summer wedding, I knew that this color would fit in perfectly. Together we chose a save the date magnet full of circles because Jasmine loves circles. Then a bifolded invite with a black and white patterned paper nicely complemented their vision. And of course closing their wedding stationery off with a thank you card.

Pinks & Oranges in Mexico

Corina and Stephen will wed in the Riviera Maya, Mexico next summer and thought that the mixes of pinks and oranges would complement their wedding perfectly. She found the passport invite that I did and loved the design. It holds all the information for her guests and was able to let them know how to make travel arrangements and added a thank you on the last page. The passport invitation can be customized to any type of destination wedding. It's a great way to let your guests' know as soon as they open the envelope that they'll be needing a passport for an amazing wedding venture.

Last year, Gretchen and Mary met with me to design an invite for their wedding in Canada. The 7x7 pocketfold was what we came up with and now we met again to design an invite for all their friends and family that couldn't join them for a reception. The pocket invite was the perfect choice to hold the additional info for their guests. We tied bronze with the turquoise together through all their stationery. An Italian Wedding

Suzanne and I met shortly after she went to Houston Wedding Showcase and saw my work. She loved it. It took some time before we were able to create a design that had the simplistic and vineyard feel of the winery where Suzanne and Siggy would wed. After they came back from visiting Castello Banfi, she knew exactly what her color theme would be. The castle on the front tag gave the whole look it's final touch.

Jungle Diaper Cake

My friend Sara is due next month and a couple of weeks ago, she had her baby shower. I thought it would be more personal to make her a diaper cake with some onesies included. I thought that a jungle themed cake would be cute. Little did I know that Baby Boy Parsa's bedroom theme was a jungle. Sara and many other loved it.

Garden Wedding

Kayla and Juan Pablo knew that they wanted a garden themed wedding next March. I created a mix of greens and purples with a touch of butterflies. Beginning with the Save the Date, they loved the one that I did for Meladie and Scott a while back. I used the same format and changed it to their colors and then we did a magnet instead of a flat card.

For the invitations, they wanted to include as much info as possible for the guests from the accommodations to the map and directions card. Their guests will be thoroughly prepared. I used a green patterned metallic paper to add a little flair to the invites.

The garden theme will be carried all the way through their wedding with their wedding program, table number and menu trifold, escort cards and ending with their thank you cards. What a pretty wedding this will be!

Handmade Papers

Lauren and Kevin met with me a few months ago and first choose a modern invite with a pocket fold out. Over time, Lauren found this handmade paper and decided to go with an invitation that integrates a love letter style. She emailed me her ideas and instantly I fell in love with the concept. When I received her sample paper in the mail, right away I went to the printer to see if it would feed through. After printing her invite, I had to email her even though it was midnight. Lauren said she "got teary eyed" just looking at it. Here is her finished wedding invitation. I love it!

Square Invite

Jennifer and Jason decided on something different and unique. Going with a contemporary square invite, they didn't want all their inserts to just fall out of the envelope when their guests received it in the mail. I designed an invitation that solved just that. On the front of the invitation is their regular invite, but when flipped over, there's a pocket that holds everything in place. Brown and different shades of green are their wedding colors. Jennifer loved the completed look of the ribbons.

Passport Invitation

Amy and Jeff wanted to keep in theme of their destination wedding and I did a boarding pass save the date for them. For their wedding invitation, they decided on doing a passport. The design includes a twist of a starfish and seashells on a lagoon metallic cardstock and the inside pages resemble the real passport with their wedding info. There can be mulitple pages including accommodations, activites, travel agent or wedding coordinator info. The options are endless. This invitation completes the look for their Mexico destination wedding.

I was definitely honored that she choose me to do the stationary. My friend Shehanie that I've known since I was 15 called me a couple of weeks ago (and I haven't talked to her in over a year) and said her sister was getting married. They wanted to come over as soon as possible to do Rae and Jeffrey's invites since it was a quick engagement. Rae found a design she liked and went with a silver, white and cranberry. She loved the soft touch the cranberry ribbon gave to the sleek silver and white pocket invite. The back of the invitation is a pocket which hold the response and accommodation cards.

Tropical Boarding Pass

Amy and Jeff are having a destination wedding next June in Mexico. Instead of send a regular 'ol save the date, what better way to announce their wedding than to send a save the date that replicates a boarding pass. Amy's custom design was integrated with seashells in mixes of blues and bright pinks. How tropical! Her wedding invitation is going to look like a passport. I can't wait to get started!!!

Beach Magnet

Since I've never done them before, it's been quite the experiment. Although my first one turned out pretty good if I do say so myself. Diaper Cakes

So here's how the story goes. My friend Angie tells everyone that I can do anything. And I mean anything! Angie had a baby shower last February and I made her a diaper cake. Her friend Buddie asked if I could make her a couple of diaper cakes. Of course, Angie says, "Yes, Thao can make it!" Buddie emails me and asks for a football and baseball themed diaper cake and a tiki/hawaiian themed diaper cake for a boy. How cute! I had a lot of fun making them and it was different since it didn't have anything to do with paper. I hope the soon-to-be-moms enjoy them as well.

Heena and Zul were referred to us by a good friend of mine and Ben's. I met with them a couple of weeks ago and learned that they would be having a traditional Indian wedding lasting 2 days. Heena picked out the one she wanted right away and we played with the colors of antique gold, dark pink and orange incorporated with a touch of paisley. She said that it would tie in with the Indian theme and the henna drawings that she would have on her wedding day. How awesome is that?

Hearts and Hearts

Meeting Benniesha and Tony a couple of weeks ago was awesome. Though I had never done a collection like hers, I was excited to get started with her unique design. When I asked what she had in mind, she said to me, "I want an invite that opens up like doors and when you look in side, there will be a vellum page with all the wording and hearts underneath. All of it will be tied together with a bow." I was amazed that Benneisha knew exactly what she wanted. So I went to the drawing board. It took me a few days to get the right image for the hearts she requested, but when I finally put it all together, here's what I came up with.

A week later, Benniesha came back to meet with my husband, Ben with Sassani Photography, and I was able to show her the sample set. Most of the time, I send out the samples to the couples and I don't actually get to see their reactions. She couldn't help smiling and telling me how much she loved it. It feels great when a bride is in love with her stationary.

Included in Benniesha and Tony's collection besides the invitation are the Save the Dates, Programs and Menu stands. Also, Benniesha wanted to be different and instead of sending out the invitations in a white envelope, she wanted a matching sapphire blue envelope. Of course, it's difficult to print on, so I created a label that goes from the back flap all the way to front. On the back is the printed return address and on the front, all the guests names will be printed. When sent out, no guest will be able to forget what that envelope and invite looked like nor will they forget that sleek and clean finished look.

Initial Notepads

Part of my personalized stationary includes notepads that may be personalized with a name, saying or initial. The notepads can be printed on white paper or metallic paper and are perforated, hole punched and tied together with a matching ribbon. My friend Angie gave me the idea of making notepads without perforating or hole punching and tying them together. I didn't know how to "glue" the top of the pad of paper together and she found that there was something called "padding compound" and holds all the loose paper together. Of course the next day I went all over looking for padding compound and found no such thing. I suppose you can only purchase it online. So I bought a product called Paper Cement...similar to Rubber Cement. It works miraculously. Thanks Angie for the great idea!

Butterfly Save the Date

What a shock it was to me that Meladie found this blog just by "accident" when she was looking for wedding stationary. She loved the samples that I have posted over the last few weeks and we've been emailing and talking about her June 2010 wedding colors and design. I am excited to share Meladie and Scott's concept of reds, oranges and light blues, not to mention adding butterflies to her stationary. I have finished her Save the Date cards and there'll be more to come. I can't wait to get started on her invite!

Beach Themed Invitations

I had the pleasure of meeting Cathy and Eric a few weeks ago. They are having a destination wedding in Key West, Florida. Of course their stationary was beach themed as I incorporated bamboo paper in their mix of pinks and orange and little bit of green. One of my favorite pieces of this set is the M&M pillow box favor. M&M's are Eric's favorite candy so of course we had to include those in there somewhere! Those can be customized to match your color scheme.

This set included the invite, program fans, place cards or escort cards, M&M pillow box favor and thank you card.

Front and back of the invite. The accommodations and RSVP card are held together by a coordinating band and then attached to the back of the invite. This makes it easier for the guests and when taking the invitation set out of the envelope, the inserts don't fall out. Plus when the bride and groom are stuffing the envelopes to send out to their guests, it's one less step they have to do.
